Things We Should Know About Each Other While Using The Forum

I just want y’all to know: I have slow internet so sorry if I post multiple of the same replies and I use my phone so sorry if I call you a she when you are a he and vice versa. How about you?

 

Hmm. This is tough. For me, it's probably going to be spelling errors. Stupid spell check! I also have a really old phone with tiny letters so I often click the wrong letters -_-

Edit: I like checking how many posts people have and when they joined. It makes me so mad when someone who joined around the time I joined, or much later and somehow are at 1500 posts! Ergghhh I'm on here so much, but...

I like to have a lot of peoples opinions along with my own. I'm very very indecisive, and other peoples' decisions help me settle things.

I'm not always sure what to type. Like for this message, I stared at the message box for a good minute before I just decided to wing it. It takes me forever to make up my mind and my selective learning doesn't help either. If I had to label myself, I'd say I'm a *holds down backspace button*

I guess I get really annoyed when someone joins on here and starts a topic asking for help, and then when I and other respected members try and help with good info, and take a lot of our time to try and help, and then they go through and dismiss everything we've said and go on a speil about why their way is better. Errrr if your way is best why did you join? Sorry lol it ticks me off big time.

Also, I'm somehow terrible about creating meaningful responses. I tend to be like super short cause I can't think of stuff to say like stella1979 . She can go and take a little question and make it a super nice helpful friendly all kinds of tips and stuff and I'm like, "yep". I wish I could answer like Stella.

 

I have to use either my laptop or desktop. I hate browsing on a phone and absolutely detest trying to type on one. My keyboard "skills" are such that I can only use 2 fingers and even then , have to look at the keyboard while I type. The most used key on my keyboard is the backspace. I have tried to learn how to touch type but it's impossible. My fingers just do not work independently of each other enough to touch type or play a piano. Typing on a touchscreen is like torture, especially on something as small as a phone. I need a physical keyboard.

As far as advice on the forum goes, I listen to it, take out the good parts and apply them, and then go with what I know works. I'm that way in life as well. I don't fully accept what anybody says.

I have no idea how many words per minute I type, but I've done 2-finger typing since I was 9 and it works.

 

Taking advice and being open minded is good , to a point. You have to have some filters installed. The only truly open minded person is an airhead.

 

Thinking about it, there is one thing you should know about me. Don’t come onto my thread and start giving off topic advice (like if it’s a photo thread don’t tell me my stock is awful) and expect me to answer you. If I’m asking for advice I’d ask, not post a photo of my tank with no questions involved... if I do have a question then please feel free to answer it, but I’d prefer if you don’t start giving advice on unrelated things either. Basically, if I ask a question like, “ what’s the best food for bosamanis and gar?” Please don’t say “bosamanis and gar can’t be kept together.” Now if you want to ask about giving off-topic advice, feel free! I don’t mind it when people ask before giving it. But when they don’t it comes off as rude to me and I’ll likely not reply to anything off-topic about their post.

This is a bit of a pet peeve of mine so I might be a little more sensitive to it than others, but I do know that I’m not alone in this regard. I’ve seen quite a few people leave because of others just jumping on and giving advice. Don’t get me wrong, I used to be that way to until I realised just how rude and disrespectful it was. So I do understand, but I’d like I if others understood as well. If someone wants help, they’ll ask. If you think they need help but didn’t ask, then ask them if they’d like it.

 

I so fidgety that I post before I'm done with my thoughts and end up double or triple posting

I'm always getting bored and starting a totally new project in the middle of my other ones so some of my projects I post here never actually get finished lol
