There's a white patch on my guppy

Hi, I'm new to this forum, this morning, I saw one of my guppy male has a white fuzzy patch on his tail, he's still very active, but I'm worry about the white patch, I don't know what that is, but I think it's fungus. How do I treat this? And is this contagious to my other guppies?
It's in a 20 gallon tank

I have had success treating fungus with Mardell Maracyn. You can get it at PetSmart among other places. Not sure if it is contagious, but you should treat the entire tank just in case (as opposed to putting affected fish in a separate tank).

 

It does sound like fungus, probably taking advantage of a small wound or something.
Fungal diseases tend to be quite contagious, so he should be immediately isolated. Also, as with any fish suffering from a disease, you should keep his water as pristine as possible.
There are many medications on the market; if you live near your fish store, you likely share their water parameters, so you might ask which med. works best for them (take in a picture, if possible).

Having just read jdhef's post, I tend to agree with him that if the disease turns out to be highly contagious then entire tank will need to be done. I would still isolate, though, and perhaps wait to see if symptoms emerge in your other fish. If you are lucky, it may be that the fungus was opportunistic, and took hold on a preexisting small wound on the one fish.

And should I add aquarium salt to the tank?

 

I'm not a fan of aquarium salt, so I would say no.

It's hard for me to tell from the photo if that is fungus or fin rot.
