I started with 10 or 15. Now I have... Many! this isn't even close to all of them either.

WOW, I'm guessing they are easy to breed.

Soon, you won't even need gavel. You can just have a shrimp substrate XD

How long has it been since you got the shrimp? Akari, that's a gross thought, but also pretty funny.

Honestly, it's getting to that point. I fed them last night and they come out of hiding. WOW I have a ton! Wherever I gravel vac not, I get little tiny shrimp babies in my bucket. I can't help it they're everywhere. Just pulled some out of my filter too! I got them in June.

I started with 6, sold 1500+ in 3 years, until I sold the whole colony.

I am thinking about getting some for my nursery tank, its a 5 gal, how many should I start with?

5-10 would probably do well. Make sure they've got hiding places and a source of calcium and they'll do very well. Easy shrimp to take care of!

I have a piece of dead coral, would that work as a source of calcium?

I'm not sure if that would. You can always blanch a piece of zucchinI and feed that to them. They really aren't very demanding.

Yeah just boil zucchinI until it is soft so that it will sink. I got mine from another FL member. I think I paid $30 with shipping for like 15 of them.

hmmm, that's a good idea, how would I find someone in NV or ID? closer just seems so less stressful for the shrimpies. (yes its a word, look it up! lol!)

They are great. RCS are really placid. I've never had any problem with them and my Endlers. Wanting some?

If they didn't remind me so much of cockroaches, I'd offer to take some!

No offense to anyone, by the way.

I'm getting some from a fishlorian... didn't see you had any until after I'd already committed. Perhaps we can do a trade down the line. I understand they can begin to lose color as they become more inbred.

I wasn't going to put any in the fry tank but if they won't eat the wee ones I will.
