If there was a perfume or cologne that smelled like aquarium, would you buy it? Would you like it?

NO. My family complains that my aquariums stink all the time. I wish there was something to get rid of the smell!

Why buy cologne? Just jump in a lake. Cheaper and smell the same!

Heavy chemical filtration helps.

I can honestly say my tanks don't smell, And if they did my Wife would be the 1st to let me know.

It could be because I do 2 water changes a week.

Same here. If mine had an odor at all my Husband would quickly let me know.

I'm sure your tank has an odor it is just a question as to whether it is a good or bad odor. Heck even the fish food has an odor. Now when my tops are down i don't smell the odor but i can smell something when the tops are up and i put my nose next to the water. As i said one of the tank had a really good smell from the plants but one isn't as good but it doesn't have the same plants. I'm not happy with how my shrimp pellets smell but the other pellets are ok and i hate the smell of the nls algae pellets. Yuck.

Same here. If mine had an odor at all my Husband would let quickly me know.

I think it was the bacopa or rotala - they were mixed up together with some other stuff i didn't bother to figure out which one it was but it was a good smell.

No. I had pulled a bunch of the stem plants out to replant them. they were interfering with the food.

Do you have a picture?

My tanks only smell when theyre balancing out. I had some funky smells from my blackwater with a bit of protein foam last few days but it's much better today. If your tank has a chronic "bad" smell to it then it's worth investigating I think

My tanks have a smell. (Heck, tap water has a smell.) But, it's not a bad smell. They both have like a rich, warm smell. Sort of like a freshly tilled, well balanced, fertilized garden. They dont smell exactly the same, but close. And not a strong, overwhelming smell. I have to lift the lid and lean down near the surface of the water.

In fact, in addition to the way the fish, snails, and shrimp act and the way the plants look, I use the smell of the aquariums as a way to pay attention to what's going on with them.

"Eau De Sea Salt" would make sense if one has a saltwater tank, but I don't, and not a whole lot of things about freshwater smell nice to me. Sometimes there's a nice earthy smell, but otherwise kind of meh.

My mom frequently comments on how bad my room smells (very flattering thanks mom :rolleyes so probably not. There is definitely a very specific smell that comes with aquariums though. All I can call it is fish water.

NEW aquariums have a great smell though. It’s a mix of cardboard, styrofoam, and manufacturement. I would buy that cologne.

Oddly enough, I know exactly the new tank smell you’re talking about .

Actually... I find graveyard soil much more akin to the smell of an established aquarium.

Never smelt graveyard soil, but I agree that lakes have a totally different smell. I’m used to the man made lake near me though that must be beyond contaminated at this point...

I wouldn't want a perfume that smelled like an aquarium only because others wouldn't like it. But the smell of an aquarium is the best thing ever.
