Yeah nobody wanted it around... I had to convince the family not to kill it. I took it with me to work and released it in the tree line by the railroad tracks. It should go undisturbed back there.

0.0...no. NO. Spiders=bad. NO BUENO. But thanks for not killing it.

On the topic of birds and rehab. I caught a collard dove yesterday, he was flying around a building and turns out hes perch trained(put your arm or a stick up and he will perch on it). He was very skinny and his beak was over grown so we called the rehaber to come get him.

I have black widows all around my house it seems. When I first brought my little Bulldog Puppy home last year, I was walking back in through the garage with him and heard him chomping his little puppy gums on something. I figured, oh great, he found a spark plug or something. When I pulled it out of his mouth it was a live adult black widow. I was terrified she bit my puppy and I was going to lose my little fella. Thank goodness he has industrial strength slobber and didn't get bitten, but still something I remember vividly to this day.

This guy was waiting for me on my truck one day when I worked at Coca Cola. He jumped off when I was going 10mph.

My family works at a farm festival every summer. They have a variety of people who come in and set up stands and booths and so on, a good ol time. Every year we have a lady who brings in bunny rabbits. She has adults and babies, and a big pen for them to run around in and people to pet them, she also sells them. This year she brought bunnies, chicks AND ducklings. As well as 4 juvI chickens (2 cockerels and 2 pullets). Now, I was VERY unhappy that she was selling the ducklings and was very money oriented this year, not even bringing the pen. Come time for everyone to leave I find she left the 4 juvI chickens behind. 3 in a small dog carrier(id say pug sized maybe) and 1 in a separate cage on grass. The 3 were in 2" of crud and waste. No food and a drip nipple for water(a rabbit water bottle). Which isn't something that chickens just know to use(must be trained). So as I found out, the boy who was alone got beat up by the other earlier that day, which begs why he was left behind at all. It was 9pm, and here I am out in a field cleaning out chicken cages and bathing birds, getting them all situated. Time lapse to the next morning, I show up at 7, the vendors all get there around 7-9. The lady doesn't show up until 2pm. By then I had separated all the birds into larger cages, with water and food( ears of corn were never so terrified XP ). The lone male was very bad off, not drinking or eating, dehydrated basically. Luckily one of the other vendors there just happens to be the wildlife rescue. They have birds, LOTS of birds(they brought hawks, kestrels, owls and some baby animals that needed 24/7 care). These are the same people who took the dove off my hands. They helped me check out the cages and get real food for them. It was pretty much set that we would be taking the animals home.

Well, our lady shows up and gets in a huff over the birds caging. I explain the situation and she claims someone was supposed to pick them up. Which I told her DOESNT exclude her from responsibility, since she left before they were picked up. The wild life rehaber, kathy who is the senior lady that runs the show came over and gave the lady an earful. She agreed to release the birds to us since "they arnt hers and she doesn't want them". Until her friend shows up and decides to take them to her farm, which was obviously not cool. Her friend was a ROYAL...things I can't say here... yeah. After much fighting and a few choice words from myself, she let us take one of the boys. I shifted him into a ACTUAL RESCUE BIRD CARRIER. Yeah, I know HARD TO DO HUH?(sarcasm). Needless to say, all her birds were very skittish and unhappy youngsters, my worst fear was that he wouldnt integrate to my aunts flock right. (he has 1 month in QT first though). As it turns out, she got him home and he became an instant lap bird. Jumped right into the kids arms. He actually wouldnt let them alone and was just begging to be held. Which make sense, because when I was handling them all earlier, they were VERY calm despite the struggle to actually get them out. He should be ok and make a full recovery(needs food and water but that's it, and a good de-miting) He also needs to molt to get new axle feathers on his wings, who ever tried to clip them, butchered the job.

I don't have pics yet, and I can't find any similar online. Hes in mid roo transformation, from young colors to adult. I'm pretty sure he may be a blue gold. He has some blue(grey), brown, red, black and gold.

We keep water and peanuts, cornbread, popcorn etc on the deck for the birds and squirrels.

I looked out and here was our visitor from the other day having a good time

Yes I know it's a wild animal but we're careful, don't go around and make sure it's gone before the

dogs go out. We figure everything is welcome to a bite to eat and a drink of water especially in this weather

Those raccoons sure can get comfortable. I was out looking at the moon with a telescope years ago, when I noticed one wandering around a few feet away. He didn't seem to be in a hurry to leave. I had one follow me around a bit too when I got locked out of the house and was trying to get someone's attention.

I had a squirrel follow me and my two dogs on a walk, I honestly thought it was rabid so I kept walking really fast.

My dad was on his back under a car when a squirrel climbed on his chest. He thought it was rabid too... Turned out to just be young and lost.

Had a baby squirrel come up and sniff noses with my dog while on a walk a couple years ago. Couldn't get phone out fast enough for a pic.

Here is one of the double rainbow we had last week. The 2nd one on the outside didn't show up in the pics.

Whether or not it counts, I'll upload a few other pics of fun animals that came to the hospital.

A cougar (/mountain lion/puma), an African tortoise, and an alligator.

Cougar is veeery sleepy. I have a pretty neat pic of me holding his head, but that would require putting a picture of me on the interwebs, haha.

The tortoise was awesome, his shell was like a mountain range. I think he was like 30 years old or something. Turtles live forever. (Not that 30 is "forever" of course. )

The tortoise didn't have a proper diet, you can tell by the formation of the shell.

Edit: Don't tell me that the Mountain lion was someone's pet?

A. The tortoise was rescued and placed in the zoo, so I'm not surprised.
B. Definitely not, they were also from the zoo Two came in that day.

Yup, I believe that's an Eastern Garter. She was certainly a nice size for a garter. She was between a foot and a half and two feet long.

Very pretty if I wanted to be a single mom. I would show the pic to Dan seeing he is deathly afraid of snakes. And would probably have a heart attack he can't even read The Jungle Book to Taleigh cuz of the snake in it.
