Has anyone use the The Dry Start Method?

It looks pretty interesting and ill be getting a 30 gallon tank soon so I'm thinking on doing this!

I'm just wondering, they say that your tank can be cycling while you do this method but I can't see how is that possible when there is no water ....

I started a Monte Carlo carpet with that method. You may experience plant melt once you flood the tank, but if the roots are established they should recover.

You could cycle your media in a separate container like a small plastic tub while dosing ammonium chloride.

Dry start is really the most effective if you're going to be injecting CO2 after submersing. After having hundreds of ppm of atmospheric CO2, flooding brings it down to less than 5 ppm. Melting is likely to occur, which is a detriment.

Without CO2 once flooded you'll experience die-off. Probably not total die-off though.

I didn't dial back the CO2 gradually enough on my carpet and cut the CO2 too soon. Now I'm experiencing die-off in a few areas. Carpet is still putting out new growth, but the older growth accustomed to higher levels of CO2 took a bit of a hit.
