(warning, long post)

This is the continuation of getting the pigs! I'm going to finally get them!
Lately, I've wanted them and planned to get them, but just got really busy with school, and put them off.

Some of you may have seen my thread called Preparing for my Piggies.
I think I'm all prepared with much help, and ready to get them in January.

January is the month of my birthday, and time to get the pigs!
I've wanted far to much, and this is the time.

Do you think I'm prepared?
List

2 - Cuddle E Cups
1 - Chew-Ka-Bob
2 - Willow Branch Ball
3 - Fleece
2 - Kaytee Clear Waterbottle 32oz
Oxbow Orchard Grass Hay
1 - Trixie Hay Rack
Oxbow Adult Guinea Pig Food
2 - Gymax 8 Cube Grid Wire
You & Me 1 1/2 Cup Food Bowl
You and Me Tidy Trimmers

List Explanation

Cuddle E Cups
Beds for the piggies!

Chew-Ka-Bob
A toy for the piggies!

Willow Branch Ball
Some more toys for the piggies.

Fleece
The bedding.

Gymax 8 Cube Grid Wire
I'm making a DIY cage for my pigs, cheaper, and very easy!

You and Me Tidy Trimmers
Nail clippers for the piggies!

Question -
I've seen people use fleece for bedding, but where do you buy it?
Whats the name of the fleece you got for your bedding?

@Aureus

I'm looking for two short haired pigs.
I'm buying them from Humane Society of North Texas.

(anyone have that experience with that shelter?)
Names for the pigs.
I know of course you need to see them first, but I just want to have some names ready.

My favorite name is..
Clover

Here are some ideas!
Clover & Lilac
Ginger & Chocolate
Ginger & Coco
Clover & Ginger
Cherry & Berry
Lily & Iris
Clover & Berry
Clover & Strawberry
Clover & Cinnamon
Clover & Orange

I really like the first one.
Clover has to be one of the names, but feel free to suggest more names.

Trying to find a spot for the pigs, I'm thinking somewhere in my room..
But, the worst thing is.. I sometimes get allergies if I am outside when my lawn gets cut..

Or, sometimes from flowers that have a lot of pollen.
The simple things, but have you ever had allergies from your pigs?

I've heard if the bedding gets old, and smelly that you may get allergies.
I will stay on top of the bedding, change it maybe every week?

I order my fleece at amazon but should get fleece - fleece is fleece at any sewing area-walmart, etc. Good luck!

Thanks! I’ll look at Walmart.
If they don’t have it I’ll just get some from amazon!

Thanks!
Also the measurements of the DIY Cage is 50x30.

Clover and Lilac are adorable names! Those would be my top choices. Once you see them in person, you can decide for sure if the names fit.

I'm excited for you! Guinea pigs are great pets. I had them from the time I was 10 through my mid-20s (not the same one of course ). I would like to have another one someday.

You should totally get some more!
Thanks! I'll consider Clover & Lilac, as one of the tops.

I'm considering of putting the DIY cage here.
I can fit it but, it will perfectly fit. Maybe 1 inch away from the wall on each side.

I'll post a picture of my drawn plan!
Also a pic of where I want to put the cage.

I actually don't remember the brand of fleece that I use, but I do remember that I got them from Walmart.

Ah, I'll probably get them at walmart.
Probably easier.

I used Vetbed which lasted forever. I had two so I could wash it about once a month and replace it while drying.

I brushed the poops off every day while the piggies were excercising indoors or out in their garden run.

The wee went straight through so the piggies stayed dry but I found I needed absorbent sponge cloths underneath to soak it up.

These sponge cloths were easily taken out, replaced, washed out and air-dried daily.

Piggies are not low maintenance but they are adorable, like to be handled and live long enough to be satisfying. I had them because I had kids that wanted them, we chose one each.

I'll consider that.

I am aware that they are a lot of work, but I'm up for the challenge.
I'm home schooled so I am in my room where they would be all day. lol

It sounds like you are pretty prepared. I've been gone from fishlore for a while so I just got the tag.

I love the names clover and lilac!

I would definitely suggest if your going to go with fleece for bedding that you look into an absorbent layer for the bottom. But other then that you seem to have everything you need

I'll look at them. If I find a one I like, I'll post it here.
Thanks for the input!

I remember my teacher's guinea pigs. They were the fattest things ever! It was probably from living in a room of 3rd graders. This was long ago.

Yeah but they were happy for the most part. I remembered that they didn't like to walk around much. I took them home once and let them free in my living room. They only turned around and ran back into the cage.

My friend has three piggies: Buddy, S'more, and Tiny. (Tiny is the biggest though!) They are lots of fun to watch scurry around! Congrats on getting some of your own!!!
