Thanks!
I hope your cories fins heal really soon too. It is just so frustrating when they are not getting better.
Are you planning to still do daily water changes while you use the artemiss? I just got some.

I think so. I was actually just pondering that. I may do some research because the instructions do not say anything on water changes.
I will let you know what I find or decide.
My Smokie is acting off and not eating now so I am really getting frustrated.

Oh I hope Smokie eats for you. It's so upsetting. You want to help them and they can't tell you what's wrong.

You can try treating them with artemis - I had a couple iffy looking angels (one had serious fin rot that was almost to its body, but has since recovered nicely and is growing fins out well - the other was stressed out because I removed its swimming mate *a bully to the others in the QT tank specially the above angel* also treated with artemis, it was discolored and had clamped fins while acting off..still ate but didn't react to me that much)..I got artemis at Petco, it says on the bottle it can treat multiple things/issues/diseases.

They look like they have an excessive amount of slime coat, so something is irritating them to that point, if the driftwood and plants have been the only things to have been changed I would start with those as well as a quick water change to cover your/their back.

Hey, I got the artemiss and started it tonight. Did you do water changes during the ten day treatment? There is nothing in the instructions or on their website about water changes.
I am considering also doing salt baths for both angelfish. And I wonder if this medication, since it is herbal, can be combined with parasite medication so all bases are covered??
Ugh!! It just makes me so mad that I cannot figure this out and get these fish better!!!

I did an end of week water change during it, but otherwise no. I believe you can do water changes since you are putting the same dosage back into the tank.
I am not sure, if it is in their food (mixed in or made that way) i'd say go for it. It doesn't harm the bacteria in your cycle (artemiss that is), so I am not sure what to suggest.

Since they are not eating, I would have to put parasite medication in the water column. General cure (metrodizonxale and praziquantel) and levimasole hydrochloride.

Or I could just try the artemiss and salt baths since salt is not tolerated and fatal for many parasites at higher concentrations. Salt cannot be used in the tank with cories.

I agree with it not being used with cories (though they can handle the others mentioned - do you have a smaller tank you can put both angels into to treat).

I just have a ten gallon. It is empty and I am keeping it cycled with ammonia. That's really small for two angelfish though. Hmmmmmmm....

If it is parasites the cories have been exposed too though.

Both fish seem a little more active today. I hope that is a good sign.
The babies are doing great. The ones on the 45 are growing much more quickly. I will try to get a new video tomorrow.

Smokie and Goldie are still not eating. They seemed to be more perked up today so I was hopeful, but they just look at the food float by.
The cories are fine and seem to be completely unaffected by whatever is going on.

On a brighter note, here are some short videos of babies.

There are several beautiful black lace. There is a large long fin in the 45 too. I will keep one of those.

Your babies are looking so beautiful the two kois I'm sending you today are about the same size as yours so they would fit in nicely in any of those tanks!

Yes. I started it Thursday and I am still doing 40-50% water changes every day.
They seemed to perk up, but are still not eating.....

Ok, so you are doing water changes. I did 40% on Friday. Maybe I'll do another one today. Thanks.

I am mostly because I don't have experience with artemiss.
I am not 100% confident that is the right call, but I do know the best thing for any illness is clean pristine water so I am keeping that up.

So, I found a dead baby angelfish and ghost shrimp in the 30 gallon tonight. I had thrown a couple ghost shrimp in just to help with keeping the substrate clean and algae control.
I had not lost an angel since they were itty bitty and prone to die off some. That has me perplexed.
Smokie and Goldie are still not eating. At least not while I am watching. It's strange because they are swimming about more now but just swim away when I put the food in. Angelfish just don't do that. They come right up and beg for food and eat it as soon as it hits the tank.
I think I will try every other day water changes to let that artemiss medication build up a little bit. I would almost rather have camallanus worms. At least I know how to knock that out and get fish through recovery from it. This issue has me completely bumfuzzled.

I'm sorry for your losses I have no idea what could be wrong with Smokie and Goldie either; having fish stop eating is one of the most frustrating things ever.

Oh. I'm sorry.

I have been treating my tank with the artemiss for 4 days so far. I have to say, I have not seen improvement in fin growth yet, but it does not seem to be getting worse either. Also, the cory that was affected the most seems to be more active again, so maybe it is helping. I plan on doing a 40% water change twice a week (Monday and Friday) instead of once a week to see if that helps.
Edit: I posted this to encourage you about the artemiss, I don't want you to think I used your thread.

So, Smokie ate some baby brine shrimp and sucked in and spit out some flakes so I hope some was eaten. Goldie is more out and about. She acted interested in the food and was picking at a leaf with shrimp so I am hopeful she ate a few. I will keep trying to feed them the bbs.
I skipped the water change tonight to let the artemiss build up a little bit, but I don't think I will go beyond 2 days at this point not knowing if it is the artemiss or the water change that is helping. Maybe both??

Sorry if this was discussed but have you tried live blackworms? If they're responding to the BBS, they should definitely be interested in the blackworms, which are little more substantial.

No one around here sells them. I have ordered them online, but it was expensive.

I think I will try bbs and blood worms soaked in garlic guard tonight. I know that's equivalent to a cheeseburger for us, but if I can get some protein in them, it will do some good.
They are both swimming about more and Goldie's too fin was fully extended. It had been clamped for a while so I am hopeful.
I have changed to every other day 50 % water changes while treating with artemiss through Saturday. I read that the time can be extended if there are still symptoms so we shall see where we are Saturday.

I'm glad they seem to be doing better I hope they are enticed by the garlic soaked food...I enjoy cheeseburgers when I'm not feeling well so maybe that will be the case for them too.

Lol! Smokie ate quite a few blood worms. Goldie just looked at them. Her top fin has straightened out and they are both swimming around a lot more so I am encouraged.
I needed a pick me up with the poor fishes lost in the mail.

I know, I am so worried for them! Luckily Biz packages perfectly so if its an extra day, it shouldn't be an issue. We need to try to stay positive!

Thanks Lchi87 I do feel that I've perfected my packaging method.....and I put a lot of attention into packing them up as lovingly as I can!!

This is a real big let down. Today should have been 3 for 3 and tfreemashould be enjoying her new fish and those poor babies should be out of those bags!!!

I do have hope that a one day delay will be fine.....but the fact that there still hasn't been a scan on this package since it left MN....I just don't have high hopes that it will arrive tomorrow either.

But I am such a pessimist!! I need to think positive...like you said. I will feel so much better when that package gets scanned SOMEWHERE!!!

I was able to trade in the last 7 cichlid juvies today freeing up the 20H for a few angelfish babies. I think I will move about 12 over tomorrow to reduce the 30 gallon amount to about 28.

Number per tank:
45g - 36
30g - 28
26g - 15
20g - 12

Hopefully that will suffice until I can start trading some in.

Smokie and Goldie seem to be doing better but still not eating well.

Sounds like you've got it covered for finishing growing out the angels. And as you bring more and more to the lfs, it'll give the slower growing ones more room to stretch their fins!!

Goldie has perished. SIP Goldie girl.
I think she just starved to death as I have not been able to coax her to eat for weeks. Sad thing is she was looking and acting better.
The cories seem unaffected and are even laying eggs, however, I saw one flashing this morning. So, that has made me change gears back to treating for parasites. General cure and levamisole. I am also going to compare the strength of praziquantel in gc to the straight bottle of prazipro and if the bottle is stronger, I will add some of it to make up the difference.
I am also combining all new fish into two tanks and running the same course which is what I would do in the quarantine process anyway.
Now I am concerned about cross contamination to other tanks. I can easily do a prophylactic treatment with levamisole as I have enough to treat hundreds of gallons. General cure is unrealistic with packets that treat only 10 gallons and only 10 of those in a pack. The liquid bottle of prazipro may stretch far enough. I will consider that as I go through water changes today. I think I would have to stagger it through this week because doing water changes on 12 tanks on a work evening is unrealistic and just not doable.
I have been doing so much moving around and with the Python, this could balloon into a big deal, especially with all these babies. Ugh!!

You did everything you could! She would have died a long time ago if it weren't for all of your efforts. I'm so sorry you lost her!!!
