Tetra Whisper EX20 wont start

I cleaned out my filter and when I put it back and plugged it in it wouldn't start. I've had this happen before when I cleaned the filter media and when I went away for 15 minutes it was on when I came back. I cleaned out everything I could see so I don't suspect any clog.

It's got water in it and I've tried priming it its just silent and it won't come on. It doesn't make any noises when it turns on so I don't have much to go by in terms of sound. Its hard to know if its actually trying to suck anything up or if its just not responding. It's an on the back filter if this helps.

 

after unplugging and plugging it back in a few more times it started up. This filter is giving me too many headaches I may have to look into a new one. I don't understand what causes this issue

 

I'm sure you fish are happy that you got it going. Not sure how your tank is stocked or how large it is but with all of the reading I have done I personally like a canister filter to be the work horse in my aquarium. I think they can be very versatile in their set up and accommodate almost any Tank.

 

I have a 20 gallon and a 3 adult mollies with 2 three month old fry. I did a water change and this happened again I still don't know the issue and it makes me fear unplugging my filter for maintenance.It's been cleaned recently and shouldn't be clogged it just won't start every time I plug it back in.

Looking for any suggestions on how to keep it from not starting after being unplugged.

I read somewhere that on the back filters can have their motor overheat and to leave it unplugged to let it cool down so I'm trying this for now hopefully it will start up later.

 

just an update I found the filter's magnet impeller and fiddled around with it and turned it an when I plugged it back in it came on. I think I may have found the issue of my filter
