Hey guys I just recently bought an api master test kit and did it on my tank. I've always used strips and have my lfs test my water when im there about everyother week and just had it tested friday and she said its perfect. And sold me my discus. I use strips often and never have a problem with my numbers. I used this kit and it said my tank was very acidic and my nitrate was over 80 ppm!!......... So I just got back from the lfs had my water tested its perfect So I guess I just did the test wrong and that's kind of bad because part of my day job is testing water lol

Just make sure you follow the directions exactly. I also have trouble with differentiating the colors, especially the Nitrate because all of the oranges are so close. What I do is take a disposable pipette and pull some of the liquid up and compare it to the charts. It'll give you a more accurate reading on what the color really is!
