I'm planning a 210 gallon tank with a 75 gallon sump, and I wanted to play around with some ideas first. Here's what I did:
I have a 65 gallon tank with a 40 Breeder sump. The sump is split in half lengthwise. The front is a refugium with a deep sand bed, plants, snails and worms (so far) - In front so I can display it. The back is a typical sump filter: Crash chamber, sponges, biomedia chamber, and a return pump chamber.

This is all working fine so far. The 65 had as many as a hundred juvenile Angelfish and a handful of cories - now down to 13 Angels we are keeping.

Here's what it looks like, and a diagram of the filter part of the sump. What do you think?

I like the way you split that 40b. Sure much nicer to see than a sump tank! If it works, i say go with it.
