Temperature Control With Garden Hose Water Changes?

So, for a future tank, I plan on getting a 75-100 gallon tank. I figure the easiest way to do water changes (beside filling a pitcher at the sink) would be to use a garden hose from outside. The thing i'm worried about however, is keeping temp under control. I want to be able to run the hose through my window and straight into the tank. How could I regulate the temperature without needing to fill up separate buckets or tubs?

 

I don't see a way to regulate temp via garden hose. I think it would be best to keep a 55gal drum nearby that you can fill up with the hose and let sit for a day or two (or add a spare heater), that way the temp difference won't be so drastic. You could then use a small pump to add water back in or even out of the tank and it wouldn't be too hard. In fact, I should put that into practice myself but I'm not too handy with hardware. A future project perhaps.

 

I use my garden hose on my 135.
Tank is usually 78°F.
I do half water changes and bleed the water in slowly, when I get done I'm usually .5 warmer so 78.5 some times 79,which is ok.
Run the water in slowly and try and shoot for water changes on warm days so the hose water is a warmer.
When it gets colder I have a 44 gallon tote I will fill and throw hot water from the tub in with hose water to split it.

 

If you want to spend the money on water chillers/heater controller there are a few to look at on amazon. Pricey though, and I don't know how well they work.

NatalieRyan , why not connect garden hose to a faucet inside your house?

You would then have the hot water knob to use to regulate temp.

I use a white Camco drinking water safe garden hose for my water changes. They are used for RV's and travel trailers.

Our sink faucet has an aerator that unscrews off the faucet, and I can screw on an adapter for a garden hose in its place.

Coincidentally, I just did a 75% WC with this method on our 75g tank about an hour ago.
