Temp shrimp home?

Hey so I have some shrimp I ordered back at the beginning of June and just got notification that they are finally shipping. I honestly wasn't expecting this as our weather has been super hot. I was using the extra time to get my tanks rearranged and a new one set up. Well, the 20 long I got mainly for the shrimp is still cycling but getting better every day. The shrimp should be here Thursday. The red ones I was planning to put with my guppies on the black gravel but the amano I was going to put in the 20. I really don't want to try to catch these guys later to switch tanks so what would be a proper temp home for the 5 amano shrimp until my tank is finished cycling? Or will they be ok being added to a cycling tank? I'm using Seachem Safe and Stability as well as seeded filter media (bubble filter and 10i).

I just don't want to kill them as soon as I get them!!

@Bithimala @TexasDomer @ thoughts?

shrimp in a un-cycled tank is a nono but also they don't make much waste . I have done it in the past but I would not do it anymore .

but seeded media should cycle the tank pretty much immediately .

If you decide to put them in just make sure you keep a eye on the water and change it there are any traces of ammonia on your test kit

My problem hasn't been ammonia but nitrites. I've been doing daily 50% water changes to keep it under 1. The ammonia has been staying less than 0.25. I'm getting nitrates now (less than 5) but I also have plants and pothos so those might not be completely accurate of what is being produced.

Could I keep them in some sort of unfiltered container for a few days until the tank finishes cycling?

Looks like it should work to me. From what I am finding about Safe, it works like Prime, meaning it would detox up to 1 ppm ammonia and nitrite, so you may not need to be as attentive to any traces of ammonia. What are the current numbers for the tank?

Sorry, I hate when I forget to refresh the page before replying... I see the numbers. I wouldn't do an uncycled alternate container, you'll still have the same issues as you would in the cycling tank, so not really a benefit imo.

As far as the container I was thinking like a conditioned "bowl" that would get daily water changes ... but if you think my numbers are looking ok to add them then that's what I'll do!

Current numbers are approximately
Ammonia 0.1
Nitrite 0.25
Nitrate 3

I think my BB is finally catching up! Hopefully it will be even better by Thursday when they arrive!

And yes. Safe is the powdered form of Prime. It will last for a very long time as I only use 1/16-1/8tsp per dose!

I think that would depend on what your source water is like. For me, if I were to do that, I'd basically just be putting them in a ton of ammonia with every water change in the uncycled bowl due to my tap water. I think with using Safe and keeping the ammonia and nitrite below 1 you should be ok to just put them in the main tank personally. Also, trying to move and catch shrimp is a horrible pain, so I'd suggest skipping having to do that if you can

We have a whole home filter and no yuckies in the tap. I did another 50% water change on the sand tank today. I think it's getting there ...

Ok, got the new babies today and everyone seems happy so far! Did another 50% water change before adding the shrimp.
