Temp max for a FOWLR tank?

Thinking (dreaming, planning) ahead.

What is the maximum temperature tolerable for a fish only with live rock tank?
how about for a reef tank?

I live in a very hot city and I'm not sure I will be able to afford a chiller.

My current freshwater tank is in my office and the water is around 76-80 F, but it has been as high as 82.

IDEAL PARAMS:
78 F to 84 F - average reef temperature tends to be 81 F . Though some SPS corals like cooler water temps. A chiller is not necessary if you use fans blowing across the top of the tank water. You should be fine.

 

A little off topic, what is SPS coral stand for?

My tank hits 82 in the summer and it's fine, though smaller the tank the faster it will heat up, just keep that in mind. My 29 gallon tank is two levels above my 5.5gallon tank and it stays cooler than my 5.5.
