Can someone please tell me what type of tail this Betta has? He is in an opaque tank right now so apologize for pics.

Looks to be a delta or halfmoon. You have to make him flare to really see what he is.

Adding onto what Repolie said, you can help your betta flare by setting up a small mirror in front of the tank. Please don't leave it there for more than a few minutes, as it can cause stress if left out for extended periods of time. Flaring helps show how big the tail can get and therefore gives a better idea on the tail type. It's also said it can help give your betta some exercise, but I'm not sure how true this is as I haven't looked into it very much.

I have a betta mirror but don’t want to stress him out right now. He just came in from shipping and he needs time. I was told he was a rose tail but his tail is not big enough to be. My rose tail makes this one look like he doesn’t have a tail. I thought it was a Halfmoon. Thanks everyone!

jeez I'm gone for 4days and there is so many betta threads to catch up on! Anyway my guess is halfmoon. I one a super delta betta and he is much more different then your bettas tail. The only true way to tell is to have him flare though. that's how I knew.

Let poor guy rest few days. Then scare him half to death with his own reflection. That’ll get a flare I’m sure. He he.

I think we all understand. I have to triple check what SirI says. Over three times now SirI has heard something that could get me banned from fishlore for life. Glad I listened before posting.

The rays are the little filament things in their fins that the fin skin/flesh stretches between. Straight rays are..... well just that. Branches fork off into multiple ends.
