Teas for tannins

coolio3991

Hello so I want to add tea to my aquariums to do a kinda tarnish color to it. I have hawthorn and hibiscus. and I also have valerian root powder. I'm wondering if they would be safe in an aquarium

I’m not sure about those teas, but I do know that the Twinings brand “Pure Rooibos Red Tea” is aquarium safe and looks really nice, also super affordable. I’ve used it myself and love it in place of botanicals. I think the rule of thumb is 1 bag per 10 gallons.

Thank you I will try to find it. I've seen in on amazon but it's over $15 for a box.

I’ve seen it at my local shoprite for around $3 a box.

Just buy one small piece of Malaysian or Mopani driftwood. Either variety will stain your tank water for years.
