Tearing Down Tanks

I decided to tear down a couple of my tanks, and put them into storage.
My tanks are a majority of bettas, and my space is running out, and I don't have any more outlets for needed heaters, lights, or airstones. I need to take down two of my tanks and move the bettas to a new tank. My original plan was to divide my 20 gallon long and move five bettas into each compartment.

Now, my five gallon and 2.5 gallon will be taken down, but the five is the planted betta tank, so I will continue to grow them in the 10 gallon, or just move the five somewhere with more outlets so it can stay up and be running. This is just a great decision for me, and I would be able to have all the bettas in one tank, which saves on a lot of things.

Sounds like quite the undertaking!

It'll be a good piece of work for me to do, but at least I get to have more bettas!

Make sure you keep the water level at LEAST 2 inches lower than the top of the dividers. If you have any short fin breeds you may want to consider even lower (My daughter's has proven he can clear 3 inches as he's hopped out of his tank during water changes twice now!)

Also you will want an airstone or small sponge filter (I recommend the sponge) in each section (except which ever has the main filter if you have one). You can buy a bigger air pump and then run a divided line off of one pump to each section.

Cool! It's great when we can simplify. It just makes things so much... simpler.
Buuuuttttt, I'm a bit unclear on what your plan is... Are you moving bettas to a 10 gal, or a 20L? How many compartments? How many fish (total, and per compartment)?
Can't wait to see how it all shakes out!

Thanks! I really hope so too

My bettas have never jumped, but I will definitely keep it a few inches low.
I am doing a HOB and two sponge filters, along with one airstone so everyone has water circulation.

I am moving them all to my 20 long, and it will have five slots total.
The only tanks I will have in this area are my 20 long, and my divided 10 gallon.

Porous dividers? (Re)moveable screens? Transparent or opaque?
How will you circulate water from one end to the other?
Here's a diagram and pic of a divided 10 gallon I made for my ADFs on one side and endlers on the other. It worked really well. The glass divider did not have holes drilled or cut in it, so it was not porous in my case, but plenty of water flowed around the edges of the divider, and through the gravel below (you can see the water lines on either side of the divider are virtually identical, despite an 80gph pump pushing water from the right to the left side). The divider is held in place by dabs of silicone, not beads running the entire height. Gap between divider edge and tank glass was maybe a bit over 1/16", really quite narrow.
I guess I'm just trying to show that dividers can be done really nicely, and look tidy and nearly invisible if you want. Although with bettas in each chamber, I guess you might need to go opaque?

It's a black divider and it has holes in it.
With all of these filters, I will have, that should circulate enough of the water.

Yeah I have 4 bettas. After I get 2 more I'm done with them. Instead i'd like to venture out into new species like an angelfish I will be getting soon.

Okay, so I found the deal for me!
I went to the LWP website, which is the divider type I am getting, and they have a bundle purchase on clearance!
It includes three 20 gallon dividers, check valves, airline tubing, four minI sponge filters, and an air valve. This is perfect for what I need!
