What's the smallest tank I do for a salt water tank? Granted, I'm not sold a 100% on the salt water tank idea but the boss of the house wants one and I figure after pricing it all out and the time I'll let her make the decision on that.

Agreed 20 gallons is the smallest I’d try. The larger the better. If you’re not interested in doing one show her the price tag of descent equipment and it will scare her away.

IMO a 75 or 125 is the best size for a saltwater tank.

Anything smaller and you’re super limited in what you can get. A 20 gallon tank your looking at 2-4 small to very small fish with some shrimp, snails, and crabs.

As mentioned 20 Long is about as small as a first timer should try. To set one up just for fish (no corals) will set you back $350-$400 new with all accessories included (ie Marine Care Test Kit, Dry Rock to become live, Seed Bacteria, Source of Ammonia, Powerhead, Refractometer).
