Now that I have my 25 gallon up, I want to transfer some guppies from my well-established 10. As had been said, guppies breed like bunnies, and I have lots, so I want to move some over. Is there any best practice? The 25 is in the room as the 10 so they are only 10 ft or so apart, so can a simple net transfer work, or shoudl I scoop them into a small bowl (the one I use during water changes) and then dump the lot (would only be about 250 ml/ 8 oz of water) into the 25.

If the parameters and temperature are the same, you can just do a net transfer.

I just moved my betta the same distance yesterday. I checked the ph of both tanks first.

To do the transfer I 3/4 submerged a paper cup in the old tank and stood there holding it until his curiosity got the better of him and he swam into it. I didn't want to tear any of his long fins which is probably not as big an issue with a guppy although I know some of them get finny.
