Tank Sizing and Mom Problems

Hello! I have an electric blue crawfish, a goldfish, and a minnow in a 5.5 gallon tank. I have done research, I am not a beginner with fish, and i know that tank is WAY too small. (The goldfish and minnow were supposed to be feeders but they were the only two that didn’t get eaten and grew to be too big for my crawfish to eat). I am trying to convince my mom to let me get another tank, and i have enough money for one. Her reasoning is “we don’t have enough room,” even though we have plenty of room. I want the other fish tank because i am definitely not getting rid of my crawfish, but i’ve also grown attached to the feeders (and Sally, my crawfish, needs a bigger tank). Does anyone have any suggestions to help me with my mom? (By the way, my dad is on my side, but my mom’s the internal designer here and chooses how everything looks.) Also, if you have any tips, please let me know :)

Perhaps you could sketch up a tank design and propose some options on where you think it would fit. Have your dimensions checked and things like what you are going to use as a stand all planned out. Maybe the well thought out planning will help your mom see your vision and dedication and help convince her :D Good luck!

Unless you can somehow convince them to get at least a 40 gallon I would look for a new home for the goldfish. They get big.

The second post is a very good suggestion. I'd also explain to her why the animals actually need that size tank and it's not just something you want.

Yeah, thanks for your advice!

Okay, thank you! I already suggested re-homing, so we should be looking for a place soon

Do you have space in your room to house them?

See if she will understand that this is a hobby you are very interested in and is certainly a healthy option to other things you could be doing. Explain that it teaches you to care for other living beings. Good luck
