Tank Mirrors

I don't know if I have posted this in the right place or not, but is it normal for fish tanks to be mirrored on the inside? This is probably obvious, but my previous tank did not. My male cherry barb, appears to be unimpressed with this, and I guess they cannot see what is going on in 'Our world'

It's about as common as a bowfronted tank. It's just another option that you can do or not do. Personally, I don't use mirror backs, and if you fish don't like it, then that may be something to consider, but as far as I know it's not really that bad.

If you don't want to get a new tank, you can plant a bunch of tall plants along the back; it'll cut down on the reflection space. This would cut down on the time that your male cherry barb could see his reflection, which would (sounds like) probably cut down on his stress.

Thanks, I will probably try that. He isn't as bad as he was, although he still does it, so I will see how he goes, as he is paying a bit more attention on his other tank mates then his reflection.

Thanks

I have a mirror in my 8 gallon hex tank. These can be an issue at first, but I just got a moss wall growing up the back to sort it out. You can do anything really, just the more you cut away from reflection space, the less of an issue it becomes. I personally like mirrors in smaller tanks, they make it seem deeper if you play it right
