I have a 4-5” Oscar in a 55g alone , I had a albino but sadly he passed , I know I’m in need for a bigger tank but I just can’t at the moment . I did a water change the other day everything’s good fish is eating no signs of issue but my Oscar just isn’t swimming he just sits around I know they are super emotional fish I was just wondering any ideas on tank mates to keep him active or occupied or should I just leave him be and he’ll come back around .

Probably will eat the tank mates.

Probably need to make at least one regular weekly 50% WC. That should perk him up. Oscars require top notch water quality. Oscars are highly susceptible to Hexamita aka Hole in the Head disease. Poor water quality is a major contributor to that.
You could stock temporary tankmates such as the Giant Danio. They are fast & grow fairly big, but sooner or later nature will take its course.

Silver dollars can work. If you get a larger aquarium, Jack Dempsey, jaguar cichlid. I've kept those together. Be wary, sometimes things go sideways.

That’s normal what I do every week , last week during my water change I had a house plumbing issue so I could only remove about 10% and I couldn’t fill back up for a couple days , but then I did the full change a couple days later and everything is normal I have a pleco and a pictus cat in the same tank they seem perfectly fine besides my Oscar not swimming around

Something for him to chase and eat. Likely he's just lacking mental stimulation or a reason to be active so he sits waiting for a feeding to pass the time.

I get that , he’s normally at the glass when I go to feed he isn’t even that active right now he’ll let the shrimp fall then go get it I’ll try some feeders so if he kicks in
