I would dose for 2ppm ammonia. Make sure ammonia is at that level daily. And keep dosing up to 2ppm ammonia until the tank is cycled. If ammonia or nitrite gets above 3ppm do a 50% pwc. If nitrate gets over 40ppm do a 50% pwc.

There's study showing that ammonia and nitrite levels above 1 ppm can suppress some bacteria growth, but I don't think they used detoxifiers like Prime. Worth noting though.

You want to dose every day to keep the concentration where you want. It's also best if you dosed partial amounts throughout the day instead of all at once, but that doesn't really matter too much. I also recommend having some fish food in there as well to give a continuous supply of ammonia.

i would add the plants then dose some ammonia since plants prefer ammonia over nitrate so technically you can add the fish as soon as it is planted for a few days

Tetra Safe Start will give your tank an instant cycle. I've used before and it actually works. Keep in mind that you can't change the water for 2 weeks after adding.

If you go the TSS+ route make sure you read the directions carefully. Most people mess it up and void the process.

After day 14 the tank should be fully cycled. Do a large 90% pwc (assuming this is fishless). Then you can add fish.

Sure it works? Tetra isn’t the most reliable brand and 14 days is so short... Ok so if it does work then when should I put in the plants?
