Tank cover for open top aquarium?

We have an open top 45 l aquarium I would like to get a lid for to reduce evaporation. Is plexiglass ok for a lid? I have read it can start to warp. Is there a good thickness to use and is it best to use aquarium lid clips to hold it in place?

I once had 4mm plexiglass panels which bent due to the light's heat. Given the fact that I massively dim my LED lights, I was a little surprised. I can't give you the formula that includes heat, length and bend. I replaced the panels with 4mm custom glass panels and haven't looked back since.

Perhaps someone else can inform you.

If it is rimless you will need clips. I second the glass unless you have heavy cats!

Thank you very much. This is the tank. I'd like to use glass but concerned about how to fit it safely and it breaking as I use the lid. I also have an LED light for it - was hoping with LED lights not getting as hot as tradditional bulbs would be ok, but looks like even the heat from them is enough to warp it. How did you attach the glass panels?

Just use polycarbonate - Lighter, better transparency and stronger than glass.

10mm will not wrap - I have used this on 150/180G tanks etc

Thank you very much. Yes it's rimless. No cats :) A dog but he's yet to attempt climbing on the table and onto the tank. I have an LED light with suction cups that I was going to attach to the centre of the lid and that would be the only weight it would have to bear. Just a bit concerned with safely attaching glass and not breaking it when using the lid.

That's great, thank you very much. I'll have a look.

FYI: I have the glass panels resting on top of the rimless tank. I use transparent suction cups to lift a panel. One of the corners of one of the panels is cut, to allow cables to enter.
