Take Fish Out To Redecorate?

Just wondering if it will be less stressful for my school of bronze Cory’s to be removed from my 40 gallon tank while I redecorate it, or if I should do one half of the tank at a time and let them hide in the other half while I work on one side. The biggest part of my redecorating will be adding new sand to the tank which will require taking out everything on top of the current sand.

I'd remove them so you've your hands free and don't have to worry where the fish are.

Get some old water out to put them in.
Lowering waterlevel makes catching them a bit easier as well.

I'd unplug the filter as well to be sure no sand is sucked in.

Think they’d be okay in a bucket for 10 mins with no air pump?

10 of them
No problem to me. You could divide over two buckets to be sure they won't be cramped in there.
