HI all,

Currently I have a T5 light fixture with 4 T5 54 watts each.
soon I need to replace the bulbs....can someone tell me what is the best combination (as in light colour and wavelength) to have for the new bulbs?

Thanks

HI Daniel,

Welcome to Fishlore. With t5's I find it best to mix some white bulbs with one or two blue or purple bulbs to make the corals colour really pop. It also depends on the types of corals you want for example hard corals require large amounts of powerful lighting but soft corals aren't too fussy when it comes to lighting intensity.

As for wavelength I am not sure what you mean.

Hope this helps,

Matt

Thanks MAtt...currently my fixture have 2 20,000K marine blue and 2 10,000K marine white.....and regards to coral I have leathers mostly. regards to wave lenght I meant 10,000 K and 20,000K..I'm stupid when it comes to light spec so maybe I'm using the wrong word

I can't see what mind of tank you have so 20000k are really blue, ifyou don't have salt water you don't need that. For good plant growth get some 10000k daylight, and something around 6500k in more of a red wavelenth.if you have salt water go with 1500&20000k
