T5 Led Alternative

HI All,

I have an older AquaOne AquaStyle 850 tank with T8 lighting rather than the newer LED lighting.

Is there a way to replace T5 tubes to a LED equivalent? Does such a thing exist? Or do I need to get the new hood to upgrade to LED?

When I swapped my lights I just taped the LED strips into my old florescent hood. Maybe not exactly pretty, but it was cost effective.

A new LED light fixture may be the way to go. There quite inexpensive now. The plant LED on my 10 gallon was only 15 bucks. The 6 foot LED on the 125 was only 80 bucks.

When these lights first came out they were wicked expensive. There well worth the money now.

I've been searching online, and found things like these: https://www.aquaristikshop.com/aquaristic/led-lighting/arcadia/
I have no idea how good they are though. I have a hood with lights with a timer built in, so I wanted to use the same power supply, but get some led lights so that it doesn't get so hot. So I'll probably try something like this.

For those trying to upgrade there older lights. Led run on low voltage 12v-24v and have transformers in them to lower the standard voltage to these lower-voltages. So you need to get the transformers to do this. A lot of your old power cords have these transformers on them. Just check the voltages written on the sides. ie 110 input to 24v output. Good luck .
