I recently got a young male red velvet swordtail. If I watch him from across the room or somewhere he cannot see me he behaves normally, but he seems to be afraid of me. Every time I get within two feet of him he darts to the back wall and will continue to glass surf for the entirety of the time I am there, plus twenty minutes. I tried to stay in front of the aquarium for three hours to get him used to me but he glass surfed non stop. Is there anything I can do to stop this? Or will it go away with time?

It will go away in time I would say .
You try befriending him with food ..
Drop a single crumb in till he figures out where it is coming from ..
Once he knows you control food he will rush to you ..

It should go away with time. All my danios would shift away from me for the first few days. Now they all swim up in their school as I approach. Not sure how much cover and places to hide your tank has but if it's pretty open that could contribute as well
