Swim Bladder - Heavy Breathing

Greetings. I think my pet minnow may have swim bladder. He is floating at the top upside down, but breathing and trying to move, so we are going to not feed him for three days and feed him peas like I've read. What bothers me is how hard and labored his breathing is. Is that normal for fish with swim bladder...or is he suffering? If he is suffering, I don't want him to stay that way.

    Thank you.

The symptoms you describe goes to way to many problems. Normal cause is water quality. Please give your parameters (PH, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate), size of tank, temp of tank, filtering system, last water change, if you vacuumed at the water change, tank mates, and if any other fish is displaying symptoms. Also please tell us what your water source is for water changes and the parameters for that.
