I picked up a surge protector with a remote control today. Now, I can turn the lights off on the 125, 20 and 5 from my bed

Cool! That's a really neat idea Beats having to get up and turn the lights off when your done watching the fish.
Where did you find it?

That's really nice and not outlandishly expensive. Thanks for sharing that. let us know how you like it. Maybe do a review of it after a while in the review forum.

It's nice that there are 2 full time plugs too, so they all aren't on the remote.

The one light on the 125 doesn't have a switch, so I have to plug and unplug it to turn it on and off. Well NO MORE! I knew there was a better way

Why on earth would any company make a light with no switch??

... Unless of course, they ALSO sell timers? LOL

Neat idea! I might have to look into this for other things...

all my tanks are on their own surge strips with a timer for the light. Most also have a small UPS for the air pump as well.

you can also get single plug adapters to make anything remote controlled.

All lights Ive bought don't have switches... Shows how third world rubbish kicks you hard.

I put switches on all of them myself

That is very industrious of you!! I need one of you around. I fall asleep watching my fish in the bedroom.
I don't know if a remote would help me. 1) I would lose it just like I lose my TV remote control constantly and 2) I would probably fall asleep before I hit the off switch. LOL

But, in all actuallity that is a great idea, and Home Depot. I'll have to keep my eye out for that.

LOL We'll here in America, which I'm sure you don't need reminding, we're lazy XD (Then again, I'd do anything for my fish, so I wouldn't really mind :whistling

Just get cheapy timers! That's what I do =3 The only tank I have a fancy digital timer on is my reptile tank, so he can have a more exact day and night cycle. But the dial timers I have on my fish tanks are consistent with in the minute, so it works lol

@ Wendy - Doing it isn't actually tricky at all. Some filters I have ive put switches on them... It just tidies things up and keeps nasty nasty cables out of the way and lets you hide that dreaded powerpoint overload look behind something...

@ AkarI - We're lazy here too you know, its just I do it for the same reasons you would ;D
