I will be purchasing a SunSun HW-304B for the upcoming 55G fancy goldfish tank. I was just wondering if I could run the filter without the UV bulb attached temporarily.

I never have the UV light on and I have the 303. I'm not convinced that the water is exposed to the light long enough for it to make a difference.

Alright, thanks Adam! So can I just remove the bulb, or is there a separate switch?

There's a switch on top of the filter that you can turn on or off as you'd like.

I don't use mine. I did use it for about a week to kill off a green water bloom, and it did help, but otherwise, I keep it off.

Exactly what I plan to do, if there is an issue that it can fix, it goes on, otherwise I plan on keeping it off.
