Sump pump water level help

I have a 90 gallon tank with a sump pump filter. When I set it up initially, it was working just fine. But, when I went to add the gravel, I removed about 2-3 gallons of water to account for water displacement from the gravel. Ever since I added the gravel, the water level in the sump tank will not maintain a good level. It keeps pumping the water into the tank until it reaches the pump itself, making the tank level a little too high. I have included a rough picture of the drain pipe (can't take a picture while it's in the tank). I never adjust the slide height of the drain pipe while putting the gravel in. Does anyone have any experience with these or suggestions to keep the water level optimal in the tank, but the sump tank at one as well without it constantly dumping the water out into the tank?

is the drain pipe partially clogged? maybe some gravel got into it?

as long as the drain has more flow than the return pump, it should be stable.

are you using a diy pvc overflow drain pipe like this?

No. The drain pipe appears that it was made for this, whether it was a DIY or not, that I don't know. I adjusted the height a little lower to bring down the main tank level, but as soon as I add water to the sump tank, it automatically adds it to the tank, keeping it lower than it should

check the drain pipe for any obstructions. the drain should drain more water than the sump pump can pump back up into the main tank.

Fixed it. First, I never thought to check for debris. Second, I only checked the intake area, never checked the other end where it drains into the sump tank. As soon as I lifted the cover, it gushed some gravel debris out of the way, now it's running great. Thanks for the debris enlightenment.
