Sump issues

So I recently implemented what I like to call the redneck version of a reverse durso to quiet my sump and its help but I was sitting staring into my sump closet with a beer and got to thinking...
( oh no, right!)

I plumbed everything in 3/4" pipe. I want to make it bigger incase something crazy happens as well as make my sump a little neater ( you'll see what I mean when I post the pics )

Should I cut the pipe after my over flow and put some reducers on to say, 1 1/2" pipe? Also my sump is split where one drains into the skimmer side and the other to the return pump side. I want to plumb to return pump side so the drain pipe drops down into a 5 gal refugium that sits on top of the 20long sump and ill drill it and put a drain from that that goes into the return pump side of the sump?

Sound ok?

Also I noticed by the water level in my shady carpentry the front left side of the tank sits low, can I shI'm this up MAYBE, 1/8"?

Refuge idea :

Thought/input?

Anyone?

What's your return pump rated at?

Then, choose appropriate pvc, plus a buffer.

3/4" should handle around 660GPH.

My plumbing is a 1.5" durso, reducing to 1" under the tank and into the sump. Flow rate of return pump is 528GPH max. But I wanted maximum overkill, if I decided to increase return pump. (Remember, Saltwater pipes will fill up with stuff, so it pays to run a decent buffer )

Shimming the tank, I've never done it, but plenty of people do, so you would probably be ok.

It's a mag 7. Pumps to DT about 5 1/2 tall. I was wondering since I have 3/4 bulkheads glued in if adding a reducer and a larger pipe would help anything or cause more air bubbles?

Also - what about stacking the fuge like that?

Well I busted the tank during drilling. I think I'm going to plumb the return pump outside the sump instead and put it in a bucket for safety and use the right side of my sump as a Refugium. Not how I originally planned but its gunna clear up some space. I also replumbed one drain line to 1" pipe and its working nicely. I will do the return pump stuff and move an electrical outlet this weekend hopefully
