Is a sump considered a filter in itself? I saw some sumps made by All-Glass Aquarium Company and noticed that one of the first compartments house blue bio balls. Is this one of the first steps in the filtration process? It then moves onto the protein skimmer, UV sterilizer (if you have it), and then back up to the tank...Am I on the right track?
What are the various compnents of the sump? Protein skimmer, UV Sterilizer (?), live rock/sand (maybe)...am I on the right track?
