Hi im new to the hobby, Just wonderning what could be causing a sulpher smell in my new tank? Im still in the process of cycling it (with fish) have had it set up for about 3 weeks. Iv been doing regular water changes of 25% i just done about 50% today as ammonia was way to high at 4-8ppm. Iv been using prime but cant seem to get ammonia down and i noticed a bad sulpher smell this morning when i went to change water, anyone no what could cause this?

Prime smells like sulfer. If I had to guess I'd think that the high levels of ammonia reacting with it in the water is causing it to gas off hydrogen sulfide.

Should the smell go away when i get the ammonia levels down and should i keep using prime?
