Suitable Red Plant

So...I am somewhat satisfied with how my low-budget/low-tech tank is looking right now, but I really hope to add some kind of red plant in there for the contrast. I was hoping for something med height that I can have towards the back of my tank.

So my first question: anyone think it'll be too cramped to add some reds back there with the java? I wanted red on both sides, but I'm thinking it'd probably be impossible with the amazon swords there...

Second questions: Are there any red plants that are easy to care for and don't need co2 or high lighting?

I second the Alternenthera r. Used to keep them and they stayed nice and red in a low-tech setup with decent lighting and root tabs. I also suggest the various species of crypts, like undulata or beckettii. They can have a nice reddish brown or bronze color which will give a nice contrast as well.

I though of tiger lotus, I loved their speckled leaves, but I wasn't sure if it'd grow to the surface if it didn't have enough light. I was also thinking it'd be too big...?

Some sword plants have red coloration.

I do believe someones told me that before, but I've never seen any sold. I will try looking for some...seems like a good idea.

Red Rubin or Red Melon swords. (They may be the same thing but different names as they look similar)
You can also do a dwarf aquarium lily. Similar to the tiger lotus, but the leaves are shaped differently and I find them to be brighter in color.

Ludwigia repens, ludwigia minI super red, rotala rotundifolia to some extent. Alternanthera reineckiI might be a bit hard, but it turns red in almost all conditions. If you choose to go with the alternanthera, do not move it and make sure that conditions remain very very stable. Stability and a steady amount of nutrients from the substrate is a key to success with alternanthera.

The crypts and swords have really lame red colors. Like really lame. Most of them end up being a rusty brown color. Tiger lotus has a decent red color, but may grow way too big for your tank.

I keep the tigers in three different aquariums. Two of the three in the 150 have gotten quite large while one is small. The ones in the 46 bow have stayed small and the one in the 44 pent sends up surface leafs. If you do not want the leafs at the surface trim them before they get there. I place a root tab under them every three months along with the other supplements I give them.
