30 Gallon Tank Suggestions on gravel vacuum brand/type

Getting my first gravel vacuum for my 36 gallon tank.
What do you think about this brand?

EHEIM Quick Vac Pro

Good? Other suggestions? I don't mind spending the extra $$$ for a GOOD vacuum, one that doesn't require too much work and use of buckets, etc....

TIA!

I've only ever used a python. No need to switch to another brand.

Ehh I have got a cheap knockoff of a python and do the right thing and get a real one . My LFS used pythons so I guess get a python.

Personally I like the 5 gallon bucket method but that's just me

I assume the Quick Vac Pro is just the standard Eheim vac? (not the battery operated?)

If it is, then honestly (as much as I love all things Eheim) a standard gravel vac does pretty much the same thing. Honestly save the money.

I haven't used a Python so can't comment, but as far as simplicity of using a siphon hose, this has to be the best video (courtesy of our friend capekate) https://www.fishlore.com/aquariumfi...asy-aquarium-siphon-instructions-video.19653/

Since I saw this video (years ago).... changed my entire approach to vac'ing my tank. (if you don't vac this way, you'll kick yourself asking why you didn't think of it :giggle

Sounds like Python is very popular for doing water changes but what about actually cleaning the gravel? Does it do a good job? I saw it for $39.00 for one with a 25ft hose ( I don't even need that long of a hose to reach the laundry room basin )

The EHEIM Quick Vac Pro is around $45/$50.00

The hose lengths are standard, and are in 25 ft increments.

You could easily make one if you are a DIY kind of person.

Def not a DIY person

I saw some Aqueon ones that seemed to have pretty good reviews and the prices about the same.
I will probably look in to that as well.
I am a complete novice when it comes to stuff like this so I guess, trial and error.

Thank you!

It's not like there are all kinds of moving parts - it's a hose, attached to the faucet. As far as quality is concerned, the pythons come with a brass fitting, which is good. I think the others come with plastic ones, which are not good quality and wind up being problematic. However, it;s a very easy fix - stop at the hardware store and get a brass one.

I ended up getting an Aqueon - We'll see how it works on my first water change in about 2 weeks.
I also bought a cheapy top fin gravel vacuum for my 5 gallon ( 5 gallon is not anywhere near plumbing so the Aqueon would be of no help )

I hope to finish stocking my aquarium this weekend!
