Suggestions for a 15g-Tall Tank

I love the shape and footprint of this tank. Originally I used it to house 3 dwarf puffs but I moved them to a 29 gallon last year. Very recently I converted it to house 2 juvenile figure 8 puffers that I kinda rescued from another member on another forum.

Anyways...I've always wanted kribs or bolivian rams but this tank isn't large enough for them. Is there anything that is similar to these two fish that could be confortably housed in a 15 gallon tall (20x10x18)?

This decor was thrown together for the F8s and can be altered for whatever cichlid that would be comfortable in a tank with these dimensions. Currently it has a Penguin 200 but I have smaller filters that I could move over to it.

Thanks

Btw I took on a total 3 figure 8 puffers to keep for about 6 weeks to make sure that are IP free, healthy and strong enough to face possible transport. They will be up for adoption then.

umbrella cichlids (apisto borelli) grow to 4 inches.

I think killis are a good idea. There are some wild colorations out there

Thanks, guys

The Apistogramma are great looking fish and greatly considered if available.

Wow, I never realized the Badis' were that small. I never considered killifish and there are a ton of options there too.

Also my tap water is very soft to soft at 4 degrees but I'm having great long term luck getting the KH up using baking soda. And like I said the PH is steady at 7.8. I'm big on decor and will stuff a tank full of what ever the fish like best if necessary.

So how big do umbrellas truly get? I see 2" on some sites and 3-4 on others.

Hi,

Interesting sized tank to stock. PHP's idea for the Badis Badis or Dario Dario is great. They are awesome little fish that do really well in small tanks. Full of personality. Technically I believe they are classified as gouramis but I think they are just like cichlids. There are also many different types you could try. How long and wide is the tank? I think you could fit two pairs of Badis Badis or three pairs of Dario Dario. Another option is Peacock Gudgeons. They are also very interesting. A third possibility is Bumblebee Gobies. Those are really fun looking fish with their permanent 'scowl'. I believe there is a type of freshwater and a type of brackish.

What sort of aquascape are you looking for in this tank?

There are also shell dwellers. I hear they are fascinating to watch.

Oops, for some reason I get the Umbrella cichlid messed up when it comes to size

Oh yeah! Shell Dwellers! They are absolutely fascinating creatures!

I really like shell dwellers activity wise but color wise I think most will not attract as much attention as others. But they are very cool looking fish. Their behavior can be hilarious.

I always see people talking about shell-dwellers saying they are awesome.

I always liked peacock gudgeons but they are similar to bumblebee gobies and I already keep them...And love em.

I always considered sparkling gouramis too.

I guess I wanted cichlids for there personality.

Thanks to all and keep any ideas coming. It will be some time before I decide to do anything.
