Sudden Death- Stumped!

H'lo there.

I found my weather loach dead this morning. There were no marks on him accept a slight nip on the tail which i'm guessing happened after he died, being nipped by curious fish. Cant understand it, every things fine in the tank-water;fish etc. I'm really stumped! And sad, he was one of my favourite fish!! He was swimming fine last night when I fed the fish. I was reading on them to see if I can get any info on what could have been the cause aside from naturally. They are supposed to be hardy and able to adjust to the tropical water temperature and aren't fussy.
Dunno whether to think about getting another or not......?
Any ideas.....

HI Sabi,
sorry to hear about your loach.. they are such kewl fish. its so hard to try to understand why a fish that seems healthy suddenly dies. Even with the perfect water conditions, compatible tank mates etc etc, there still will be deaths in the tank. Dont forget these are " in captivity " fish.. and it just happens sometimes without our having done something wrong. I just lost my bumblebee catfish as well, the water was fine the other fish are fine and yet... it happens. Dont give up on the loachs and if you had the room for it and liked the species, then try again!

SabI what temperature was your tank, they are a cooler water fish and like to have others of their kind. as Capekate said sometimes you just don't know why.

Thanks for the rply Butterfly and Capekate.
I Read here that they adapt to water temperatures
and at the lfs where I bought him he was in a tropical tank, could the water be a problem do you think? My water temp is 25'c. Or should I try and get 2 next time?
I think i'm taking it hard because I lost 5/6 fish in the past month, 3 for no reason I can find aside frm naturally...
