Hi all, just wanted to share my news. I'm proud of myself!! I would not consider myself an experience fish keeper. I believe I've been keeping fish for a couple of years now. I have had a Dwarf Gourami in my 65 gallon for a few months now. He's kind of a stressed out guy, hates water changes, etc. Despite that, he seemed okay, swam around the tank and didn't bother anyone. His tank mates were guppies, rasboras, cories, and a pleco.
A few weeks ago I added a couple juvenile angels, and even though they didn't seem to bother eachother, my gourami took to hiding constantly, and looked very stressed. I am not sure if he was defending territory, or if the one angel was picking on him when I wasn't looking.
I hate returning fish to my LFS, although they always will take them, and this dude for some reason is near and dear to me. So, I went out and bought a 20 gallon tank this weekend. Moved a filter from one of my other tanks, made sure it was cycled, and then moved Mr. Gourami and 5 guppies yesterday.
Initially he went straight to hide, but when I fed them last night, he came out and ate.
This morning he's cruising the tank, color is much better. No glass surfing, hiding, or sitting at the bottom. He is a much happier fish! Yea me!
I just wanted to share my small victory, always makes me happy when I know my pets are happy.
