Stylish Tanks For Bettas?

Good morning everyone

I am redesigning my bedroom soon, (goodbye childish pink carpet ) and its hopefully going to be in a vintage French chic style, with grey and lilac as a color scheme. Of course, I don't want to have to loose my beautiful betta Sus, but I can't think of a tank that will suit that style. Does anyone know of any tanks that would suit my room and yet still are around 3-5 gallons? If so, can anyone give me any decoration ideas? It seems that you simply can't get a good tank in that style

I thought that the tank style that would suit it would be your typical fish bowl style, maybe like a biorb, but I know that a biorb isn't really great for bettas due to its small surface area. Of course, this won't be for a while, (finally spring, I can get back to my pond :joyful so no hurry for replies, but it would be nice to have an incentive (and another fish based savings goal:rolleyes

Thanks all
Chloe

Very nice Do you know if the filter is included in this tank? Else I can see it detracting from its sleek look

Yes the filter is included! And the Fluval Edge 25W heater is a sleek little black thing that is not a eye sore in the tank which is always nice

Thank you very much! This will certainly be a consideration

I purchased this tank on eBay and I love it because it looks sleek and it has a little sump at the back which means that you can hide your heater, thermometer, pump etc. and not have to have an ugly separate filter or a filter that takes up swimming space making it really easy. It comes with everything in the picture. It was only $64 Aus dollars.

500L/H will be way too strong for a betta.
I have one similar to that which has 320L/H filtration and I've been experimenting on how to cut it back.

What about a rimless tank? Simple and classic You could look into gray pea gravel to match your decor.

It has an adjustable flow rate, so I use the lowest setting, I also use an elbow joint to lessen the current & put a little sponge in the output & it works perfectly.

I have 2 Penn Plax Radius tanks (the front corners are rounded) and they are very stylish. They are rimless. The kit came with a submersible filter that works great for both of my bettas. They have a 5 gal, 7.5, and a 10 gal on amazon. I got the 5s for around $50 each, and added a heater and upgraded the light.

Penn Plax Curved Corner Glass Aquarium Kit

These are what mine look like.

Right now the 10 gallon is $76. I wish I had done the 10, to be honest, but they were $98 when I got mine.

I think a dark purple background looks really nice, and adds a touch of classy femininity to a tank, especially with a lighter substrate like pea gravel or gray pebbles. It's hard to find, but you can always paint the back of the tank. Then natural rocks, wood, and real plants so the tank doesn't look childish.

Okay I am thinking the more natural scenery route. What if you did a dwarf hair grass carpet with a flat stone path leading to the middle of the tank where their is a little bench surrounded by two "trees".

It's very hard to get a DHG carpet without injected CO2, high light, and a fertilized (i.e. not root tabs) substrate.

I know (I have tried failed and then researched). I just think that they are the prettiest things and while they are a lot of work I personally think that they are worth it.

Dwarf sag is a good alternative to DHG. It's appropriate for low light, low tech tanks.

I second the Penn Plax Curved corner tank...I have one and it looks great. I do, however, like the new tank I just picked up for my daughter...its PetCo's Imagitarium Pro Delux 3.7 gallon tank. Like the Penn Plax, it's curved corner...but there is a back sectioned off with three chambers, one for filter cartridges for carbon and ceramic media, etc, one for a large sponge, and the last for the submersible pump with enough room for a heater. This keeps the tank clean of things other than fish, plants and decor...I am kind of jealous of her tank...

I think you could build something like this around your tank

Ikea has some terrariums like this! You might fit a tank inside!
