Ok that's fine. It's not fine but for the purposes of this thread it's fine. Any nitrates recently?Yes 2.0 and not 20 sorry typo
Yes i mentioned in my earlier post that i had nitrite spiked down to 0, had high bitrate and did a water change yesterday tested today and i have nitrite spike.Ok that's fine. It's not fine but for the purposes of this thread it's fine. Any nitrates recently?
Ok, it seems like the nitrite-oxidising bacteria are starting to grow and just need time to establish. I expect today or tomorrow you'll have 0 nitrites and a number of nitrates again. Don't dose ammonia again until you see nitrates.Yes i mentioned in my earlier post that i had nitrite spiked down to 0, had high bitrate and did a water change yesterday tested today and i have nitrite spike.
Neither are actually true.I believe nitrifying bacteria die off at 8ppm ammonia, so I can't imagine the lethal dosage for nitrite is much different.
I have to wonder if you read a thread or just react to the most recent post. This tank is already producing nitrates.Don't dose ammonia again until you see nitrates.
I'm so confused beyond confused. Yesterday when I updated my thread said I have nitrite when I added ammonia, and the next day I had 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite. Today I added 2ppm to test the cycle again came back from work. I have 2.0 ppm nitrite again what's going on?* Is my tank cycled? Or the reason I'm seeing nitrite is because I'm testing the same day? Like let's say I added ammonia today and I woke up the second day I would see 0 ammonia and 9 nitrite but it eating the same day is that why I'm seeing nitrite?Neither are actually true.

I know this can get very frustrating. Most of the time once nitrites drop to zero we don't see them again. For some reason your nitrite eating bacteria is slow. It may be because you are not giving it a full 24 hours after adding the ammonia.I'm so confused beyond confused. And what I'm thinking as well is I'm adding ammonia 2ppm as one drop. When I have fish ammonia will rise slowly and not 2ppm at once and I won't see nitrite.I know this can get very frustrating. Exactly right. they just add a tiny bit at a time and the bacteria is constantly cleaning it up before it has time to get high enough to register in our tests. And what I'm thinking as well is I'm adding ammonia 2ppm as one drop. When I have fish ammonia will rise slowly and not 2ppm at once and I won't see nitrite.
I have to wonder if you read the most recent posts or just the OPs. I meant until they see nitrates appear again.I have to wonder if you read a thread or just react to the most recent post. This tank is already producing nitrates.
