Strange Things In My Tank

Hey all! I'm new to the forum and looking for some advise on a weird situation that I have!!

Back story...my husband bought a 55 gallon tank 6+ months ago. I've wound up taking it over because he wasn't taking care of it. I've had my trail and errors with it. For the most part I had my tank under control until recently. I currently have in my tank
5 male guppies
12 female guppies
9 Sunburst Wag platies
3 mystery snails and a zillion babies from them
6 Ghost Shrimp
1 Chinese Algae Eater
4 Neon Tetras

I purchased 6 beautiful male Guppies about 2 weeks ago. After a few days they began to harass my Sunburst Wag platies so I purchased them some girlfriends. Within 2 days 4 of the females were dead. Fins shredded to almost nothing. I purchased 8 more and the same thing happened. I placed the males in a breeder box to help protect the few females I had left until I could purchase some more to get the ratio correct. Recently my Neon Tetras started having the same problem. I had 12 (They were named The Dirty Dozen) and now have 4 left. I thought it was my Chinese Algae Eater (Lonesome Dove is his name because he's the soul survivor of when my husband set up the tank). I unfortunately had no idea what kind of fish he was until I took over the tank and started researching. I placed him in the breeder box after letting my males out into the tank last night. This morning I woke up to another one of my Dirty Dozen with no fins and one of my male guppies was the same way!! I have no idea who my culprit is now since Lonesome is still in the breeder box. Please help!! I'm actually pretty heart broken about losing my Dirty Dozen. The only group I have still in tact is my Platies. Please help! Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

This was of my two this morning. I was so sad about my pink tuxedo! He was the main reason I bought the guppies!

Try putting the ghost shrimps in the breeder box and see if it stops. They have been known to eat small fish (and even larger fish that are dying or dead). Since guppies sleep on the substrate, the ghost shrimps may have had the chance to damage the tail.

That was what I was thinking. I just wasn't sure if that was something they would do or not. I haven't had an issue with them until now.

Exciting news! I had no dead fish this morning. I do have one Neon Tetra dying, but he was looking pretty rough last night when I did my nightly fish count. I wish I had some clove oil to euthanize him properly! But I have no other victims! Thank you so much for the suggestion. I think I have found my culprit!
