Strange Red "nostril" Looking Dots On Betta's Face

I've owned Bettas in the past but I've never encountered this before.
To give some backstory, I was just at a Walmart and decided to look
at their pet section, what I saw I wasn't expecting, they had small 5 gallon tanks
overstocked to their absolute maximum compacity, and a large amount of betta fish in small cups about an aisle away from the other fish, next to a bunch of small aquariums, it saddened me to see a Walmart still
doing this, and I couldn't help but try to save one of the bettas, because my 10 gallon was currently
empty and unprepared for any sort of fish going into it (we just moved and its absolutely filthy from being
on the road), I bought the nicest looking cheapo fish tank I could for temporary use, some "tank water", fish
food, and grabbed one of the fish that were in the absolute back of the betta fish shelf, he's this small, still looks pretty young crowntail male, he's a yellow color with an orange tinted head, when I saw him, I looked him over for any sort of diseases like fin rot, ick, swim bladder disorder, ya know the usual stuff bettas that aren't cared for usually get, he looked fine in my rush to get him out the **** hole, but once I got the tank set up, and got him adjusted, I noticed two red dots sorta between his eyes, they literally almost resembled nostrils, but they didn't make an indent, I'm not sure what this is, is it some sort of marking or something?

Can you post a picture? Bettas do have nostrils just so you know.

this is the best picture I could take of it, was hard to catch him while he wasn't moving

Well that does look a little odd. IMO looks too close to the eyes to be nostrils, but if the dots are symmetrical it's probably normal for him. If physical "ailments" are symmetrical they are usually not any sort of illness but simply genetics.

Thank you so much, that's very relieving to hear, as the two dots are practically on the exact same spots on either side of the face.
