I got a paea puffer yesterday put him in the tank and then a few hours later noticed he was breathing hard is this normal? He seems fine this morning and I medicated him just in case.

Thats probably just because he was in a new environment. He probably got a bit stressed out since he had no idea where he was

Ok so I shouldnt be concerned about him not wanting to eat either? I tried frozen bloodwroms and live white worms he wasent intrested he just wanted to hide in a coner. Ive never really had a fish not want to eat after a day or two in the tank but then again hes already pretty fat and ate before I purchased him. Maybe hes not hungry? After loosing a puffer to wasting disease im starting to become like a hover parent :)

Well, sometimes people say that you shouldn't feed your fish before 48 hours in the tank. I never really do that but maybe its still a bit of stress. Is the tank in a high traffic area?

A lot of times fish wont eat the first few days. I imagine a small fish like a puffer is more sensitive than others. I wouldn't worry about him not eating. Fish can take up to 2 weeks to settle into a new environment, just give him some time ;)

Okay, well then just wait a few more days and see if anything changes. If not, just come back to this thread

Some plants died in the tank and he was acting lethargic so I did a water change and accedently sucked him up while he was on the substraight...any advice

What do you mean you sucked him up? Did you put the water into a bucket anyway? Is he back in the tank? In what way would you describe his behaviour? Did he swim around at all? Cuz my pea puffers never really swim around too much

Oh lord, do you see any visible signs of injury?

Well, I guess its just stress from the incident. Imagine minding your own business, when all of a sudden you get sucked up in a big tube.

Do you have a test kit? What are your water parameters? About the sucking him up... not sure you can do much?? I'd turn tank lights off and just leave him be as much as possible. He is probably super stressed.

yes sunflower430

Amonnia 0
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate and Nitrate are in the 0ppm zone on my test kit so they might be anywhere from there to 5.0ppm

No visiable injury JuiceKong right now hes just sitting on a plant near the filter
