Strange Fin Regrowth

So when I got Grim, he was starving to death a Tupperware bowl in like 2 inches of water so filthy, it was thick. I was 100% sure he would die, but he's a stubborn little guy and is recovering beautifully.

He had incredibly advanced fin rot, so bad I couldn't even tell his tail type. That's healing nicely and growing back.

But there's one spot on his tail where the regrowth is sort of curved and irregular. It looks really odd. And are some of his rays broken?

It's on the bottom of his tail, where the rays look curved and bent. This second picture shows a different view. It almost looks like there's too much tissue there.

If it's just cosmetic, I don't care. But I've never seen this before. Is it ok?

In my experience, usually a fish is totally fine with a bent fin. If he is still swimming fine and seems healthy otherwise, I wouldn't worry.

How large is your tank? It looks like you have a lot of decorations in there. Bettas do like to have some hides but if there's too much in the tank, he can tear his fins, and it reduces swimming space.

It's 2.5 gallons. There are 3 large plastic plants (all of which passed the pantyhose test) in the back and along one side, but the midground, foreground, and left side are pretty bare, aside from one very small decoration.

He looks to possibly be a rosetail, which do have issues with fin branches breaking, but if it isn't affecting his swimming I wouldnt worry. He is very nice.

Sorry for the late reply.

Thank you. I got him on May 4. Popeye in both eyes, so emaciated you could see his spine (which I didn't know was possible in a fish), he seemed to have a neurological condition and couldn't move well, but that's gone so I think it was just weakness from malnutrition. His mouth was also swollen and looked deformed. That's better now, too, but it still looks like he has a permanent frown (which is why I called him Grim).
