Stop touching the glass, yeah you!

Why do people think that if they suck hot wing sauce off of their fingers, then wipe them off on their stained old navy hoodie, then they won't leave finger prints on the tank that they just saw me wipe down as I was complaining about finger prints on the glass?
Just a heads up people, if you put your palm to glass, fish will NOT touch ur hand and bond with you, they don't care, and after the 2nd time, u might be asked to leave.
Tapping don't work either.. .

I would leave smudges and fingerprints everywhere when I was at their place. Oh wait, how would they differentiate between mine and the preexisting ones?

Oh yeah, the kids. How cute is it when the 4 yr old wants to share her chocolate chip cookie with my fish, and her mom laugh and tell everybody to look. Then point out that there are tiny little chocolate smugges on the glasss.
I need new friends, or fish that bite.
Maybe I can teach the fish to share their bloodworms. Yeah, now I feel better

Sounds like you need an Oscar, Migz! I've been bitten by one, when I was around 5, no less, and its not very pleasant! He drew blood a few times on other people Maybe he never drew blood on me because he was my fish LOL

Dust the tank front lightly with silver nitrate.
This will stain their fingers black.
The skin must wear off before the stain is removed.

That will for sure get someones attention.

Oh wait, that may be a little extreme. Plus, I doubt many folks besides me have silver nitrate laying around. It is/was used for photo developing.

Now that's thinkin' yeah, I'll build a mote around the tank and fill it with Oscars and maybe a booby trap that swings a frying pan in front of the tank, (should they get past the oscars), and a bamboo cane, just in case.
So how do you get chocolate finger prints off of an Oscar? Just in case.. . That 4 yr old I mentioned, she's an evil genious in pigtails.

When I lived with roommates I had a huge die off in the living room tank overnight. My roommate had people over and they all got drunk - I still maintain they tried to get the fish drunk with vodka. I HATED having roommates; I LOVE living alone

Do Oscar's really draw blood. I have two little kids and they always are teasing my fish like they have food. Especially the Oscar. Sounds like one good bite and that will end.

Amen to that!! Oh, and parents? I can understand kids being kids (the little monsters), but parents should know better. I can't stand parents who think it's cute to let their kids run riot with other people's pets/belongings

That sounds similar - one set of college roomies of mine got my hamster drunk on brandy.

Mind you - it was amusing to watch him stumble, and he showed no lasting effects, and lived a fairly typical hamster-long life span.

I was spitting mad at the time though.

I'm a Beaver Scouts leader, I get to do it for fun

(that's sarcasm, guys - I love the kids, although there are ones where some extra firmness is needed because they don't seem to get it elsewhere)

Jeez their just finger prints. They will wipe off. I'm constantly having to clean my tank due to my kids or my Brothers kids. No biggie.

Heh, tell me about it. Wifes sister's family is like this.

Child has no discipline because her and her husband refuse to teach him any. I'm loosing count of the number of times I've politely asked them to control their kid in my home when they are visiting. Instead of just correcting him, they'll spend ten minutes arguing over who needs to get off their butt and correct him

My oscar are pretty good during tank cleanings and wll ocasionally brush by my arm and sometimes they go up to the surface. Now if there's food involved that's another story they do seem to reconize me though when I walk by they do that werid dance and I give them both a small pellet. When someone else walks by they just ignore them. Yes oscars do have teeth when I first got them they were nervous like a cat on a tightrope over a lake.

On a side note my oscars go crazy during feeding I have had one jump out of the tank and hit me. That was a one time experience now when I feed them I have a small rug in front of the tank because they will splash water in your face

If the kid is old enough - hand them a paper towel with vinegar on it and have them wipe off their own finger prints.

You want to keep their hands out of the tank? Stock Violet gobies or wolf fish, tell them the fish eats little kids. I don't think anyone would mess with a wolf or violet gobie. XP, not even the employees at my walmart, I found them arguing over who had to clean out the violet gobie tank. I sat and LAUGHED.

OR just get a betta. Yeah, they will do the trick.

something that's even WORSE is people LEANING on the tank. My mum nearly contently does that while talking near the tank, it's kind of a habit. So whenever I catch her doing it, I tell her off.(she complains about water I spill on the floor during water changes, so imagine what it would be like if 70 ltrs/18 gals of water with flopping fish on the floor would be like )

I was just working with that stuff for a lab, and my fingertips were stained black for a month! That would work to perfection! Even though it is highly toxic

Whoa! It's not a piece of furniture, people! lol
I used to live in fear of tanks getting knocked over or hit with the handle of a vacuum cleaner, etc. So great to have my own place now

At a party one of my wifes friends thought it'd be funny to feed my fish a lolly.

I silently went off, changed 50% of the water then got on with my night while not talking to her at all. I think that upset her more than if I'd gone bonkers.

About 5 inches down but I sold stand for 100 and guy offered me 25 for the broken tank as a hospital. The next day I bought my 75 setup and sold him the tank
