Ok I got my 30 and should be ready to add new fish soon. I plan to stock 2 platys ( already in tank ) either 5-6 zebra danios 6-7 neon tetra 6 corys ( whichever kind is available because they sell out so quick ). I was wondering if danios would nip at gourami..... Or if I would need a centerpiece or any alternatives to danios such as cherry barbs.

You don't need a centerpiece fish, just some prefer it :) The danios shouldn't nip at the gourami.

Well, lemme just say that the zebras would be better off in a group of six, so yeah. As for compatibility of those fish, I can't help you there, I'm afraid. :)

I was just afraid because I have heard like 50/50 on if danios nip or not

Mine were with a dwarf gourami and they never nipped him. They're in with an African Butterfly Fish now (very long, delicate fins) and they don't fin nip him either.

Incomplete schools will cause them to be nippish and skittish, so it's important to have them in proper schools to avoid nipping.

I had my zebra danios with a dwarf gourami and they didn't nip at all.
