I have a 29 gal with 1 peacock cichlid and 1 syno multipunctatus i am planning on getting 2 more peacocks all male 1 pictus cat 1 syno petricola and like 4 mystery snails. The lady at the lfs said no catfish and i can get other africans like kribs and such. So my main question here is do i trust the lfs lady or go with my gut feeling.

Umm no. Pictus cats need larger tanks and more than one pictus cat to be comfortable. 75 gallon minimum according to seriouslyfish.com

I'm not sure about the multipunctatus but I know the petricola is also schooling and will need both a larger tank and more of it's own to be comfortable.

I'm not an expert on peacocks so i'll leave that to someone else but I believe a 29g is too small for them as well.
