Sounds to me it's time for an upgrade. If your budget is large spend some on a larger tank. It opens up more possibilities of different fish you can keep and the number of them.

Really? fishlore says 30 gallons minimum, as do many others. if possible, I would love to.
Might not be the fish I was thinking of. Hmmm. I will get back to you.

well in a 10gal your limited to pretty much the fish you didn't want. How about some inverts.

Maybe you can get a hexagon tank. Takes up about the same amount for horizontal space.

Dwarf gouramies?

It depends if you keep other fish in there also. I'd do one with like 5 neons or 1 Male 2 females and that's it.

Also depends on filtration. With your HOB I would kind of hack it. Not just go with the stock cartridge. I'd try and stuff some extra bio media in there. Check out biohome its awesome but pricey and comes in diffrent sizes

Also wouldn't put dwarf cichlids in any thing small than 20 gal

You can always go with more filtration never have enough filtration. I always double the tank size in filtration. I have 2 fx6's loaded with biohome ultimate for my 125 with 2 Oscars and a pleco and all are young fish.
